Our Homestead

His Glory Homestead was born out of a desire to live a more self sufficient lifestyle. We started out with a small flock of 13 laying hens and a small fenced garden right outside our front door. Over the last few years we have added three Nigerian Dwarf Goats, increased our laying flock to 21 hens and worked to revitalize the soil on the upper level of our property to support a larger garden and eventually an orchard and berry patch. This year we have started to raise turkeys and Meat Chickens and the kids have purchased two ewe lambs to breed lambs next Spring.

Last year, as we were planting seeds for our garden, we realized that there was a lot of wasted seeds because they don't germinate well the next year. So, we decided that it would be better to plant them all and offer those in our community a chance to purchase locally grown starts. We also have an overabundance of eggs from our lovely hens that we are eager to share.  Thus, we came up with the idea of starting a farmstand.

We hope to be able to be able to offer seasonal vegatables, fresh herbs, flowers and handmade products such as goat milk soaps and lotions in the future.

Our Flock of laying hens has grown over the years. We have a variety of different types of chickens including California White, Americana, French Black Maran, Dominique and a few others. They provide us with a rainbow of egg colors from white to blue and green as well as various shades of brown.

Laverne, Shirley and Carl are our three Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Although they are more pets than working animals on the homestead, they go up top with us to browse and play.
